14-year-old cyclist killed on A4 near Marlborough

A 14-year-old boy was killed in a collision with a van on Wednesday 25th July. The driver of the van was a 32-year-old man from Melksham. He was not arrested, though an investigation is underway.

The collision occurred at the Clatford junction just west of Marlborough (see below).

According to the local newspaper the boy was thrown 50 yards in the collision.

CTC's view: 

No other cycle casualties occurred at this location in the last decade. According to the Department for Transport the A4 carried almost 8,000 motor vehicles per day, but just 6 cycles.
