Bryan Simons, hit and killed by a taxi while cycling in Edinburgh

Bryan Simons, 40, was hit by a taxi on Costorphine Road, Edinburgh, at 9.15 on the 5th March 2012.

According to police he died at the scene after suffering severe head injuries. There was no report about whether or not the taxi driver has been arrested.

The death – the 4th in the last 12 months in Edinburgh – has led to calls for a fundamental review of cycle safety in the city, where cycle use has been increasing substantially in recent years.
