Cyclist from Rayleigh killed in Dorset

A 58 year old cyclist Richard Ellis has died following a collision with a car on the A352 on the 3 April.

Richard was taken to Southampton General Hospital following the collision but died from his injuries on 5 April.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred at around 6.10pm, and involved a black Nissan Almera, driven by a 26year old woman from Portland. Any witnesses should call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident reference number 3:316 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Dorset Police traffic unit have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made in connection with this incident, which occurred on the same day as the annual Dorset Coast cycle event, however initial reports suggest that Richard was not one of the named participants in that event.
