Motorist denies causing death of motorbike rider and father of two

Incident date:
Fri, 30 Nov 2012

Jin Ma, 42, of Nicholson Street, Cleethorpes, pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Daniel Eastwood, by careless driving on November 30th 2012.

Father-of-two Mr Eastwood, 27, died following an incident outside Tollbar Academy, in Station Road, New Waltham.

Ma appeared before Grimsby magistrates for a hearing that was also attended by members of Mr Eastwood’s family.

The magistrates decided that, despite the death, they could keep the case in their court but Ma exercised her right to ask for the matter to be dealt with at Grimsby Crown Court.

She was allowed unconditional bail. She was represented by solicitor Andrew Havery.

Mr Eastwood died from injuries he suffered when his Kawasaki 750cc motorbike was in collision with a Vauxhall Corsa driven by Ma outside the school.

Mrs Ma was taking her 13-year-old daughter to the academy at about 8.56am, the court heard.
